BYD Electric Vehicles Held in Mustang Released After Probe

BYD electric vehicles that had been under the control of the Armed Police Force Nepal in Mustang for two weeks have been released. The vehicles seized from Jomsom and Korala border point were released from Sunday evening, according to Armed Police Force Nepal No. 33 Gulm, Jomsom. In the second and third weeks of Jestha, 775 BYD electric vehicles were brought into Nepal through the Korala border point in Mustang.

The Mustang Customs Office said customs clearance had been completed for 649 of the electric vehicles. The Armed Police had taken the vehicles under control on suspicion that there could be irregularities in the import process of the electric vehicles brought through the Korala border point. The vehicles had been purchased and brought into Nepal by Simon Inc. A probe committee formed by the government has reportedly reached a preliminary conclusion that no irregularities were found in the electric vehicles.
