The federal government has allocated a total budget of Rs 4.97 billion for all 13 local levels of Dhading district for the fiscal year 2083/84. The district has two municipalities and 11 rural municipalities, and the budget has been allocated for local infrastructure, service delivery and development programs. Among the local levels, Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality has received the highest allocation of Rs 488.1 million. The budget distribution is said to be based on geographical area, population and development needs.
Ruby Valley Rural Municipality, located in the remote Himalayan region of the district, has received the lowest allocation of Rs 207.1 million. With the federal budget allocation, local levels are expected to move forward with development plans, infrastructure construction, education, health, agriculture, drinking water and local service delivery programs in the coming fiscal year. Grants and fiscal transfers to local governments are expected to play an important role in development activities. However, effective implementation of the budget and transparent expenditure management will remain major challenges for the local levels.
