Gyanendra Shahi Demands Parliamentary Investigation into Finance Minister

Rastriya Prajatantra Party has demanded a parliamentary investigation into Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle. Party parliamentary leader Gyanendra Shahi raised the demand while speaking at today’s Parliament meeting, saying the Finance Minister should be investigated over allegations of tampering with the budget presented in Parliament and leaking tax rates. Shahi said information about tax-rate changes is known only to the Finance Minister and people designated by the Finance Minister. He questioned how 753 BYD vehicles reportedly cleared customs from Kerala on the 14th and arrived on the 20th after the alleged information leak. He also criticized the government for forming its own investigation committee and said the matter should be investigated by a parliamentary committee.

Shahi further said those involved in leaking tax rates should face a treason case, adding that a government that came to power with a promise of good governance should not move toward misgovernance.
