Initial Probe Finds No Customs Issue in 649 EVs Entered Through Korala Border
A probe committee formed by the Finance Ministry has initially found no customs-related irregularities in 649 electric vehicles that entered Nepal through the Korala border point.
An initial investigation has found no problem in the purchase and customs clearance of 649 electric vehicles that entered Nepal through the Korala border point in Mustang. The probe committee formed by the Finance Ministry has concluded at the preliminary stage that there was no issue in the customs process. According to Finance Ministry sources, the team found during its field investigation that the vehicles brought in through the Korala border had completed the required legal procedures.
The committee found no irregularities in the vehicles that cleared customs on Jestha 12 and 13. However, it has not yet been clearly established whether the vehicles were brought in after prior information about possible changes in tax rates. The Finance Ministry had formed a three-member committee led by Bhupalraj Shakya to investigate the matter. According to the preliminary report, no specific fault was found in the vehicles that entered Nepal through the Korala border.
