Traffic police penalized 2,556 drivers in Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours for violating traffic rules, collecting Rs 2.239 million in revenue.

Over 2,500 Drivers Penalized in Kathmandu Valley in 24 Hours

A total of 2,556 drivers have been penalized in Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours for violating traffic rules. According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Rs 2.239 million in revenue has been deposited into the state treasury from the action. Traffic police said the action was taken against drivers involved in different types of traffic violations across the valley.

Among those penalized, 106 were booked for driving under the influence of alcohol and 154 for ride-sharing against the rules. Traffic police also took action against 107 drivers for violating traffic lights and 183 for speeding. According to traffic police spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi, 97 drivers were penalized for not following lane discipline, 109 for honking in prohibited areas, 98 for parking on footpaths, 30 for poor mechanical condition of vehicles and 1,672 for other traffic rule violations.
