Rajan Rokaya and Santoshi Shrestha Win 10km Race in National Athletics Championship
Nepal Army’s Rajan Rokaya won the men’s 10km race and Bagmati Province’s Santoshi Shrestha won the women’s category at the 46th National Athletics Championship in Surkhet.
Nepal Army’s Rajan Rokaya and Bagmati Province’s Santoshi Shrestha have won the 10km race at the 46th National Athletics Championship. The championship began at the Karnali Province Stadium in Birendranagar, Surkhet, the capital of Karnali Province. Rokaya finished first in the men’s category, while Shrestha secured first place in the women’s category.
The national-level athletics championship is being held in Karnali Province for the first time. Athletes from all seven provinces and three departmental teams are participating in the competition. According to Nepal Athletics Association central secretary Radhakrishna Bista, 320 athletes are competing in the championship. The competition is expected to support the development and expansion of athletics in Karnali and help promote sports tourism. Nepal Athletics Association central chair Rajiv Bikram Shah said hosting the national athletics championship in Karnali for the first time is an important achievement in the province’s sports history. The championship will continue for three days.
