Ravi Lamichhane Calls All-Party Meeting to End Parliament Deadlock

Rastriya Swatantra Party chair Ravi Lamichhane has held discussions with opposition parties to end the ongoing deadlock in Parliament. An all-party meeting called by Lamichhane is currently being held at Singha Durbar. Leaders and chief whips of all parties represented in the House are participating in the meeting. Opposition parties have been continuously protesting in Parliament over Prime Minister Balen Shah’s remarks related to the border dispute. They have demanded that the Prime Minister apologize and answer in Parliament, but the ruling side has not agreed to the demand.

Due to the opposition’s protest, discussion on the budget has not been able to begin in Parliament. Lamichhane has taken the initiative to remove the obstruction, and he had also held an all-party meeting earlier. Because the all-party meeting is underway, today’s House of Representatives meeting has also been postponed. The meeting, which was initially scheduled for 11 am, has now been moved to 2 pm. Leaders including Bhishma Raj Angdembe of the Nepali Congress, Ram Bahadur Thapa of CPN-UML and Barshaman Pun of the Nepali Communist Party are participating in the discussion.
