RSP Lawmaker Demands Wall or Barbed Wire Along Nepal-India Border if Needed
RSP lawmaker Ashika Tamang has urged the government to take diplomatic steps to resolve border disputes and said a wall or barbed wire should be placed along the Nepal-India border if necessary.
Ruling party Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Ashika Tamang has said that a wall or barbed wire should be placed along the Nepal-India border if necessary. Speaking in Monday’s House of Representatives meeting, Tamang said that if the state cannot protect its land, questions will be raised over the country’s sovereignty. She said the foundation of any nation’s sovereignty is the protection of its territory and the guarantee of border security.
Tamang urged the government to investigate border-related facts and move forward with necessary diplomatic initiatives to resolve disputes. She said areas such as Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani are sensitive issues connected to Nepal’s national independence and territorial integrity. Tamang also asked the government to inform Parliament about its strategy regarding the situation in Susta. Referring to reports of activities by India’s Sashastra Seema Bal and alleged intimidation of local citizens, she asked what the reality of the incident was, what steps the government had taken and what its future strategy would be.
