RSP to Form 158-Member Central Committee Under Revised Statute

Rastriya Swatantra Party is set to form a 158-member central committee under its amended statute. The decision was endorsed by the party’s central committee meeting. According to the revised statute, 151 members will be elected from the general convention, while the chairpersons of all seven provinces will automatically become central committee members. RSP leader and statute amendment subcommittee member Ganesh Parajuli said the party’s general convention beginning in Chitwan from tomorrow will elect a new central committee with 19 office bearers.

The new office bearer structure will include one chair, one senior leader, three vice-chairs including at least one woman, two general secretaries, five deputy general secretaries including at least one woman, one treasurer, one deputy treasurer, one spokesperson and three deputy spokespersons. Under the revised statute, the party chair will have the authority to nominate 51 central members. Of the remaining 100 positions, one will be the chair, while 99 members will be elected through the election process. Among the 99 elected members, 35 will be elected from the seven provinces, with five from each province. At least two of the five elected from each province must be women. The remaining 64 members will include 32 elected through open competition and 32 elected under the principle of inclusion. RSP has also arranged two vice-chairs at the province, district and local levels, including one mandatory woman vice-chair, to implement inclusiveness in practice.
