Shalik Ghimire is leading in the vote count for the RSP Lumbini Province chairperson as 300 out of 542 votes have been counted.
Vote counting is underway for the new leadership of the Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Lumbini Province Committee. A total of 542 votes were cast in the election held last night under the party’s convention. As of Sunday morning, 300 votes had been counted. According to the vote count so far, chairperson candidate Shalik Ghimire is leading with 101 votes.
Ganesh Paudel has received 50 votes, Gopal Ghimire 52 votes, Manju Bhusal 44 votes, Rajkumar Subedi 43 votes and Madhu Prasad Aryal 10 votes. The election committee said the final result is yet to be announced as the remaining votes are still being counted. Interest has grown over who will win the chairperson post. Since a candidate needs 51 percent of the votes to be elected chairperson, participating representatives have said a re-election may be held if no candidate secures the required majority.
