South Korea defeated Czech Republic 2-1 in Group A of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after coming from behind in the second half.
South Korea secured a thrilling 2-1 win over Czech Republic in the second match of Group A at the FIFA World Cup 2026. The match was played at a stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico. The first half remained competitive, but neither side managed to score, and the opening 45 minutes ended goalless. Czech Republic took the lead in the 59th minute after Vladimir Coufal’s long throw-in reached the Korean penalty area. As Korean players struggled to clear the ball, Ladislav Krejci scored with an excellent header to put Czech Republic 1-0 ahead.
Czech Republic’s lead did not last long. In the 67th minute, South Korea’s Hwang In-beom scored after beating two opposition defenders and the Czech goalkeeper to bring the game level at 1-1. In the 79th minute, substitute Oh Hyeon-gyu scored from Hwang In-beom’s pass to give South Korea a 2-1 lead. Czech Republic pushed for an equalizer in the final minutes and during six minutes of added time, but South Korea’s players held firm to secure the victory.
