Tribhuvan University has directed professors and staff who did not return to university service after completing study leave to contact the university within 15 days. The Study Leave Management Implementation Committee of TU issued a public notice on Wednesday, asking teachers and staff who did not return to service as per university rules after using study leave, or who left service before completing the required period, to contact the committee office. The notice states that if they fail to contact the university within the given deadline, legal action will be initiated according to the agreement signed with the university and the existing rules.
According to TU, more than Rs 118.4 million has already been recovered from 50 professors who took study leave but did not return to service. The recovery process has been carried forward through the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Sports and the active role of Tribhuvan University. TU said study leave is a special facility provided to develop skilled, research-oriented and internationally qualified academic human resources. However, the university said some professors misused the facility by not returning to service after completing their studies, causing financial, academic and institutional damage. TU also reminded that professors using study leave must fulfill their service obligations as per the agreement, and said the process of recovering remaining amounts will continue.
