CPN-UML Chief Whip Ain Bahadur Mahar has drawn the government’s attention to a violent attack in Kailali. Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, Mahar informed the House about the attack on Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Shailesh Singh in Dhangadhi. He said Singh was attacked in a planned manner by a group of seven to eight people on Monday night while he was returning home from the RSP Sudurpaschim Province convention.
Mahar said the attackers injured Singh and also looted his laptop, mobile phone, watch and gold chain. Expressing concern over rising disorder and impunity in the country, he said the attack on a responsible political leader raises questions about the security situation, even at a time when his own party is leading the government. Mahar wished Singh a speedy recovery and urged the Home Ministry to immediately identify those involved in the attack and bring them under legal action.
