“Violence Likes Me”: The Real-Life Journey of Rocky Bhai Yash

From a simple boy in Karnataka with only 30 rupees in his pocket to becoming the pan-India superstar Rocky Bhai, Yash’s real-life journey is a powerful story of struggle, confidence, rejection, family, and unstoppable dreams.

The famous dialogue “Violence, violence, violence… I don’t like it. I avoid, but violence likes me” from KGF Chapter 2 made Rocky Bhai unforgettable. But behind that powerful screen image, Yash’s real life is also no less dramatic than a film.

Born as Naveen Kumar Gowda, Yash grew up in a simple family in Karnataka. His father was a BMTC bus driver and wanted his son to get a secure government job. But Yash had a different dream from childhood. He wanted to become a hero. During school dramas and dance competitions, when people clapped and whistled for him, he felt that he belonged on stage.

One day, he left home and reached Bengaluru with only 30 rupees in his pocket. The city scared him at first, but he decided not to return because he knew he might never get the courage to come back again. He started working backstage in theatre, changing light bulbs, decorating the stage, and doing whatever work came his way.

His journey in the film industry was full of rejection, financial problems, and uncertainty. But Yash never gave up. In 2008, he began his film career with Moggina Manasu, where even in a supporting role, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. Films like Rajadhani, Gajakesari, and Masterpiece slowly established him in Kannada cinema.

But his real national identity came with KGF Chapter 1 in 2018. The story of a simple boy rising to build an empire in the gold mines, powerful dialogues, and Yash’s commanding screen presence turned the film into a massive success. In KGF Chapter 2, even alongside stars like Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, and Prakash Raj, Yash dominated the screen and became a true pan-India star.

His personal life is also inspiring. After years of love, he married actress Radhika Pandit, and the couple has two children. Despite his busy career, Yash tries to give time to his family. He has said that where you come from does not matter; what matters is your work and whether the audience accepts you.

Inspired by Shah Rukh Khan and deeply respectful of Amitabh Bachchan, Yash also dreams of working with actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui. His biggest message is simple: he came from a village and became a hero. From a boy with 30 rupees in his pocket to a brand worth crores, his journey proves that background does not decide destiny — hard work, confidence, and audience love do.

Even today, when Yash appears on screen as Rocky Bhai, fans celebrate him like a phenomenon. The irony is beautiful: Yash says he does not like violence, but violence made him a star. And his journey is still not over.
